Boston Dynamics sells to Hyundai, Bitcoin crackdowns in China result in main ripple results, and Amazon warehouses are destroying over 100,000 gadgets per day.

Boston Dynamics, the group most well-known for creating the viral automated robo-dog ‘Spot’, has been acquired by South Korean Auto Manufacturer Hyundai for $880 million. The deal, which sees Hyundai purchase 80% of the Boston Dynamics’ shares, provides them and its subsidiaries a controlling stake of Boston Dynamics, which is valued by the Japanese Investment Firm Softbank at $1.1 Billion. The deal marks the primary main funding made by Hyundai since they launched Chung Euisun (Yu-son) as their new chairman in late 2020. The deal is anticipated to assist Hyundai design “industrial robots for manufacturing unit use and logistics.”  [Reddit] [Finbold]

Bitcoin continues to plummet in value as China continues cracking down on mining operations throughout the nation. The cryptocurrency fell beneath $30,000 on Tuesday, formally erasing all of its 2021 positive factors. The information, which spawned the hashtag #Cryptocrash on Twitter amongst panicked crypto buyers, has led to a number of ripple results past the plummeting crypto value – maybe most notably, a drop in GPU costs. In China, in response to one regional information outlet, graphic playing cards, just like the Asus RTX3060, that are integral to crypto mining operations, have dropped in value by over 60% since their peaks in May. The crackdowns from Beijing have made areas that have been as soon as havens for Crypto Mining as a result of low cost electrical energy into hostile crypto environments. In the report carried out by the British information community ITV News, it stated that in one week in April, 124,000 gadgets have been marked to be destroyed, whereas conversely simply 28,000 merchandise have been set to be donated. ITV News interviewed an ex-Amazon worker who had this to say: 

This story comes following the same 2019 report from France wherein undercover reporters discovered that over 3 million merchandise have been being destroyed yearly by Amazon.
